PRESENTATION OF LIONHARE RESULTS IN THE FINAL WORKSHOP OF THE PROJECT, ORGANIZED IN HERAKLION, CRETE, AT 27-10-2023

The final workshop of the project took place on the 27th of October 2023 at Galaxy Hotel in Heraklion Crete. The main aim of the meeting was to present and disseminate the major findings of the project. The workshop was attended by a large number of participants and the event was covered by local media (click here). Workshop presentations included results on the effects of Lagocephalus sceleratus on coastal fisheries, new findings on the biology, physiology and ecology of both Lagocephalus and lionfish, as well as the assessment of management and new fishing tools developed within the project. The Minister of Rural Development and Food Mr. Lefteris Avgenakis, the Deputy Regional Governor of Crete Ms. Irini Houdetsanaki, the Vice rector of Research and Development at the University of Crete Mr. Michalis Pavlidis, the Director of HCMR Mr. Antonis Magoulas and the President of the Association of Professional Fishermen of Heraklion Prefecture Mr. Antonis Androulakis attended and greeted the workshop. A large number of participants representing local, scientific and fishing organizations also attended the meeting following the presentations and interacting with each other with great interest.
