Prior to the ban on boatseine fishing gear, this gear regularly caught a significant number of juvenile silver-cheeked toadfish. Within the scope of the LIONHARE project, experimental boatseine operations were carried out for the first time in 2022. The objective was to catch silver-cheeked toadfish during autumn, the season when juvenile fish typically appear. Scientist from HCMR participated in six fishing operations, which were carried out in November and early December. As a result, a substantial number of alien species were caught, including several specimens of both juvenile and adults of silver-cheeked toadfish. For 2023, a new experimental fishing campaign is planned during October, just before the official finish of the project.
